Of course the side with the valley fold will form a smaller groove. I am going to make a pair for a bio professor today, and I'm excited to use some of your refinements.Gwenbeadshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03776860653117490065noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2878053709435750828.post-33235927261929928262011-07-15T14:35:49.441-07:002011-07-15T14:35:49.441-07:00Thanks SilverBlueberry! Love how you did the minor/major grooves. :)SilverBlueberryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16415298337609315511noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2878053709435750828.post-30775133531287297802011-07-14T12:41:12.800-07:002011-07-14T12:41:12.800-07:00Thanks Gwen! Something about actually building up the double helix from an asymmetrical ladder made it click. It's also possible to induce so much asymmetry, by, say, adding another skipped 11° bead in the base pairs, to collapse the minor groove completely!Cindyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01633007479485349329noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2878053709435750828.post-27041386782759270742011-07-13T16:25:04.866-07:002011-07-13T16:25:04.866-07:00That is so cool. I had assumed the grooviness came from how much extra ruffling the outer beads created, but it's fascinating to see precisely why I was wrong. I love the way the kinks in the rungs create the two kinds of grooves. I guess it makes sense that there was some kind of break in symmetry causing that. Thanks for this great post.Gwenbeadshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03776860653117490065noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2878053709435750828.post-28394020526782795572011-07-11T12:36:36.300-07:002011-07-11T12:36:36.300-07:00Thanks Christina! Thanks Christina!Cindyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01633007479485349329noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2878053709435750828.post-54143008386908748862011-07-10T00:59:16.797-07:002011-07-10T00:59:16.797-07:00I wouldn't call it a correction as much as a r...I wouldn't call it a correction as much as a renovation, but either way I'm glad you're enjoying these variations!
