Beaded Bead Webinar - Join me on June 24!

I'm giving a live webinar presentation on June 24! What's it about? What else? Beaded beads!

In this presentation, I'll talk about how I design and create many of my geometric beaded beads. If you sign up for this webinar, you'll learn the different geometries that can make up beaded beads, and how one geometric structure can lead to a wide variety of designs.

This webinar is appropriate for all levels; if you're a beginning beader, you'll learn the basic instructions on how to create a cube or dodecahedron beaded bead, such as this one made out of pearls:

From there, I'll talk about several of my more advanced designs based on this structure, such as the hollow Fiberoptic Dodecahedron:

And the not-hollow Tila Garden Pendants:

Have you ever wondered why you would use a round core bead in the middle of one design, but not another? I'll talk about that too, and how you can use these principles in your own beading designs.

The webinar will take place on June 24 at 1 PM EDT (10 AM PDT), and you can register for it at the Interweave Store. Attendees will have the chance to ask questions at the end of the presentation.

Can't make it on June 24? You can watch it later! Anyone who registers for the webinar will receive a downloadable video of it about a week after the webinar airs!

Four Classes at the BABE! Show

The Bay Area Bead Extravaganza or BABE! show was one of the first bead shows I ever attended when I started working with beads several years ago. I've always been fond of this event, and I'm happy to announce that I'll be teaching four classes at this year's BABE! show:
Cubed Tilas Beaded Bead Necklace

Tila Garden Pendant

Ice Queen Necklace

Rivoli Kaleidoscope Pendant

The BABE! Show runs from November 2-4 in Oakland, CA. More information about class registration, along with general information about the show can be found here. I'd love to see you there!

New Patterns and Kits: Tila Garden and Cubed Tilas

Now that I've had some time to recover from the Bead & Button show, I've put up patterns and kits for the Tila Garden Pendant and Cubed Tilas Beaded Bead on my website.
I have several kits left of the above Antique Flowers Tila Garden Pendant, and a few of the other two color choices. The Cubed Tilas beaded bead kits are available as special edition necklace kits:
Special edition kits are also available for the Ice Queen necklaces. I've taken to wearing the Night Queen version as of late when I go out for a nice evening:
All three kits are available at www.beadorigami.com. Both necklace kits contain all the materials to make the entire necklace, and the pendant includes the headpin, bead caps, and chain, all in sterling silver.

Purple Velvet and Jet Cubed Tilas Necklaces

To wrap up this series on alternate colorways for my Bead & Button classes (check out my other two posts here and here), I present the Cubed Tilas Beaded Bead Necklace in two additional colorways. First up we have this version in purple velvet with dark blue transparent AB tila beads, one of my favorite colors of seed beads:
Next up we have this version in black and bronze, with a touch of emerald green. I usually use some kind of silver in my jewelry, so creating this version was a nice departure into a silver-less color scheme:
Seats are still available for the Cubed Tilas Beaded Bead Necklace class on Sunday, June 10 at the Bead & Button Show. More information about Bead and Button Show class registration, along with general information about the show can be found here.

Bead & Button Class Update

A brief update on my Bead & Button classes: the Tila Garden Pendant class is already sold out, but there's still room in the classes for the Cyclic Orbitals Beaded Bead NecklaceIce Queen Necklace, and Cubed Tila Beaded Bead Necklace
The Cubed Tila design in particular is a relative of the Tila Garden Pendant, and students of both classes will learn the strategies of tila beaded bead weaving used in both designs.

More information about class registration along with general information about the show can be found here.

Bead & Button 2012 Classes

I have some exciting news to share! I'll be teaching at the 2012 Bead & Button Show next June! The show jury accepted four of my class proposals, three of which feature brand new beaded bead designs. This will be my first time teaching at Bead & Button in addition to my first time attending the show, so I'm just stoked to be going!

My classes are tentatively scheduled from June 8-10. First up is the Cyclic Orbitals beaded bead necklace, featuring three different sizes of Cyclic Orbitals beaded beads. The completed necklace includes lapis, smoky quartz, and Czech glass beads:
Next up is my Ice Queen necklace, which you might remember from last winter.
Then I'll have two classes featuring the two-hole Miyuki tila beads. I call this pendant "Tila Gardens" because the tila beads form little plots for colorful beaded flowers:
I'll wrap up with the Cubed Tilas beaded bead necklace, featuring the tactile and geometric Cubed Tilas beaded beads:
The 2012 Bead & Button Show will take place in Milwaukee, WI from June 1-10, and class registration will begin online on January 10. If you're going, whether you're taking a class or not, I'd love to see you there!
